As the coronavirus pandemic has halted a lot of activities in the world, organizations, companies, churches, and even schools have been on lockdown. There have been several rumours surrounding resumption of normal activities in schools and other organizations, but these are just mere speculations and not true.

If the schools would resume, there are several things that need to be put in place. When these things are not available, resumption of schools anytime soon cannot be feasible. A school is a place where social distancing is hard to maintain. The average number of students in a class is 20.

In primary schools, it is difficult to make these kids follow guidelines. Children under 8 years play a lot, they would come in contact with friends. Imagine making a child of 5 years or less use a face mask, and he ends up exchanging the mask with his friend because he wants to see how it fits him. Maybe even because that face mask is finer than his own.

For secondary school students, it is easier to maintain guidelines as they are more mature and understand the situation of things at the moment. The same goes to the varsity students, these are adults that making their own decisions, live on their own and some even fend for themselves. All these knowledge and care are not enough if some things are not put in place.

Although, social distancing helps to curb the spread of the virus, it is not the only thing that is needed to reduce the rate of spread of the virus.

          What Should Be Done?
Just like the workplaces which have resumed have been ordered to do, schools can also do the same. Equipment used for rapid testing of temperature should be made available. At the entrance of a school, this would be stationed there and anyone whose temperature is above the normal temperature will not be allowed to go inside.

Also, the use of sanitizers should be made compulsory. Secondary School students and varsity students can own their personalized ones. It must also be placed at strategic places all around the institution. Just like the automatic sanitizer dispensers banks now use, it should be the same for schools that can afford it.

Not forgetting that sanitizers are used in situations where you cannot always wash the hands. Therefore, running water should be made available with soap in place. With this, students can wash their hands at regular intervals.

The school will not resume if all these are not places into consideration and provided. It will only worsen the cases of covid-19 in the country. And to provide these, it will take some time for it to all be put in place if they can be afforded. And not all schools can afford this.
Only if the government make these provision for public schools, the learning can resume. Some private schools will also need the support of the government to make this work.

However, the job is for everyone to do and not just the government. NGOs need to support the schools and provide for these needs directly to the schools. The education of these young ones is very important and it needs to continue someway, somehow. We cannot afford online classes at the moment therefore, this is the best resort.
The question remains: Can this be done? Would the government provide this? Is this even realistic?
